Ethics laws fall flat in Legislature

There is a recent article in the Gainesville Sun about a grand jury report of 127 pages of recommendations for changes in the ethics law that failed to be implemented in any way, shape or form during the 2011 meeting of the Florida legislature. Florida entered the year with scandal after scandal that had gone on for decades. There were more than 800 public officials convicted of various related charges between 1997 and 2007. That I will offer is only the tip of the ice berg of scandals that we know of.
