Police review board lacks city support

The city commission voted Wednesday not to support a proposal to establish citizen’s police review board that would be able to investigate complaints of misconduct against officers. It appears the biggest opposition came from the police officers union. Yes, there was a lot of legal double speak but the when the dust is settled, there is no mechanism in place for the average citizen to seek redress. My own sense is that the city commissioners voted it down because of the political influence of police unions at election time. The full story can be found at
