Support group gives Hope to female former inmates

I can not say too much about this subject. Time and time again, I have seen this type of activity bring some women back from the edge, put food on the table and just be there in moments of despair, despondency and depression. It is so important to have a place to go and have fun where you don’t have to be on a hyper state of alert watching what is being said. Where you don’t have to explain your self. A place where you can speak spontaneously. A place where you can ask stupid questions and not be judged for them.

A new support group has been formed for women who have spent time in jail or prison.

The purpose of A Gift of Hope is to give women a safe place to discuss what they are thinking, said Darlisha Williams, one of the group’s facilitators.

“We’re not trying to fix anything, but we let you know that you’re not the only one going through that situation,” Williams said.
