Fewer people being sent to prison in Florida

I think this article should be titled “Fewer people being sent back to prison for technical violations.”  Zero tolerance assumes that people are perfect and able to meet the increasing demands of parole and probation on decreasing incomes and time constraints.

What has not been computed into the equation is that Zero tolerance in a decreasing environment of violent crimes drives up the incarceration rate without creating a safer environment for the general public.

The full story will come out later this month when DOC publishes the full numbers. Meanwhile, here is what they know or think they know.
