Falling Crime: Most Important U.S. Social Trend; Precise Causes Unknown

There has been a fair amount of sound bites on the subject of falling crime rates but what has not fallen is the ratios of those in prison for drug crimes and drug related crimes as well as the educational level of those going to prison.

All the research as well as reviews of the literature that I have seen point to the displacement of ‘legal drugs’ over ‘illegal drugs’ as a source of social escape. This is reaching the point where those drugs that are addictive in nature have displaced many of the less profitable drugs that are oh so needed for hospital use therein creating shortages in life saving drugs.

My guess is that ‘illegal drugs’ are being replaced by “legal drugs’ and the new pushers are the popular media, pill mills and the insurance companies. Now, just try and put those in jail.
