Incarceration gold rush

 Don’t think I have ever seen a better description of the politics behind the growth of prisons than in this article. You could change Louisiana for Florida and have all the same dynamics at play.

Don’t believe it. Then do a little research on the attempted closure of Jefferson CI in Florida and you will see that a great percentage of the rural counties in Florida depend on the pain and suffering of their brothers and sisters for their livelihood. A fact that is not lost on the politicians that make the laws to keep the prisons full.
