Phase II in the use of drone technology as a tool of government

It was not all that long ago that I commented on the militarization of the local police departments. Among the fastest growing technologies is the civil use of drones.

The question has arisen concerning the potential for arming them as well as using them for surveillance. I suspect that in the long run the final decision will rest with the courts and it may very well end up as a no-go as did the use of GPS without court approval.

Nevertheless, the potential for use by such agencies as the highway patrol to enforce speed limits and such will most certainly be a contentious issue.

In the meantime, it is one of the fastest growing industries in the nation and universities are developing the technology.
