There could be a couple of things going on here that are not in the article. First and foremost is that the Orlando TSA office has been the center of incompetence and is one of the first to be replaced by a private firm. It could very well be an early sense of frustration for the employees who are about to find themselves out of work.
Second and I believe more important is a growing sense of separation of all police and police related forces from the public they are sworn to protect and serve. The following article on the police in my hometown will serve as a case in point.
A last point is that it appears we will not be able to afford the growing security apparatus we have in this country. These are people that have not truly reduced the threats to the public wellbeing or at a minimum there is no statistical proof.
