FOP announces endorsements

The Fraternal Order of Police Gator Lodge 67 has announced the following endorsements in the races for Sheriff, County Commission, School Board and Florida House :

Alachua County Sheriff: John Annarumma, no party affiliation

County Commission District 1: John Martin, Republican

County Commission District 3: Jean Calderwood, Republican

County Commission District 5: Charles “Chuck” Chestnut, Democrat

Property Appraiser: Ed Crapo, Democrat

School Board, District 4: Leanneta McNealy

Florida House District 20, Clovis Watson Jr., Democrat

Florida House District 21: Aaron Bosshardt, Democrat

A press release stated that FOP members felt the endorsed candidates “have the skill set and vision to lead during these fiscally challenging times” and focused on public safety as a “number one priority.”

The Gator Lodge has some 600 members and represents the Gainesville Police Departments officers, corporals and sergeants; Sheriff’s Office deputies and corrections officers; and the Alachua Police Department’s officers, sergeants and dispatchers.
