FDA begins nationwide effort to warn of online pharmacies

 For those coming out of prison and needing drugs, the internet may seem like an attractive alternative because of the price. However, the reality is that there are some pitfalls when dealing with drugs on the internet. In part, they is precious little control over quality and often they can be imitations.

Having said this, it appears that the reason the FDA issued the warning is not because it was concerned about the well being to the American public but because the pharmaceutical industry was concerned about their profit margin. “…Research by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, which represents the state pharmacy boards, found that of thousands of online pharmacies it reviewed, only about 3 percent follow state and federal laws. The group’s website lists only a few dozen Internet pharmacies that it has verified are legitimate and following the rules….”
